    Re: Shoutbox pix

Junk I had to deal with on my job application...

    Dimension Evaluation

Finding the right match of candidates for the position is the goal of the selection process. Think of this as your partner helping you collect and clarify information that is important for your success and the continuing success of AMERICAN. This contains a list of dimensions along with a definition for each dimension. The dimensions are used to gather information relative to job-related topics. A dimension is a category of behavior associated with success or failure in a job (under which specific examples of behavior can be logicallly grouped and reliably classified). FOR FURTHER CONSIDERATION FOR THIS POSITION OPENING, THIS MUST BE COMPLETED AS PART OF THE APPLICATION PROCESS.
    EXAMPLE

The following is an example of the kind of specific information you should providee for each dimension. Providing these specific examples of past experiences is the best way to make sure the Decision-Makers at AMERICAN have a clear picture of your background of skills and qualifications. The examples that you provide can be from your work experience, life experience, or educational experience. Your response should include the following STAR (Situation/Task, Action, and Result) information. YOU SHOULD PROVIDE AS MANY EXAMPLES AS POSSIBLE, BUT NO FEWER THAN THREE.

    • Formal Presentation: Presenting ideas effectively to individuals or groups when given time for preparation (including nonverbal communication and use of visual aids); targeting presentations to the characteristics and needs of the audience.

    1. Example 1:

    • SITUATION- In my prior position of Marketing Specialist I had to present a proposed travel budget to senior management, I had two weeks to put the presentation together.
    • ACTION- I downloaded pictures of our travel destinations from the Internet and placed them in my presentation. Then I downloaded a cost comparison from Excel that showed our return on investment fro each travel dollar spent. I presented the entire budget proposal in the Microsoft PowerPoint program. The presentation was shown onto an overhead screen straight from my computer.
    • RESULT- Management was so impressed with my presentation that they approved our budges and gave us additional money to spend wherever we chose.

    1.
Decision Making: Identifying and understanding issues, problems, and opportunities; comparing data from different sources to draw conclusions; using effective approaches for choosing a course of action or developing appropriate solutions; taking action that is consistent with available facts, constraints, and probable consequences.

    2.
Creating a Culture of Trust: Fostering a work environment that encourages people to act with integrity and treat each other and their ideas with respect; creating and protecting a high-trust environment by setting an example, advocating for others in the face of challenges, removing barriers tot trust, and rewarding others for demonstrating behaviors that cultivate trust.

    3.
Safety Leadership: Actively protecting others' well-being, ensuring compliance with safe operating procedures, and inspiring others' commitment to create and maintain a safe work environment.

    4.
Communication: Conveying information and ideas clearly and concisely to individuals or groups in an engaging manner that helps them understand and retain the message; listens actively to others.

    5.
Guiding Team Success: Using appropriate methods and a flexible interpersonal style to build, motivate, and guide a cohesive team t complete team goals.
