    Any thoughts regarding Hi-Vi products?

    Specifically these:

    Hi-Vi FR600 6" 2-way Autosound System

Have contemplated using their products before, but never pulled the trigger. Specs have always looked quite nice with their raw drivers... but have never heard, or seen anyone using Hi-Vi/Swans.
    Are you not entertained?!?!

I have a pair of HiVi B3N mids sitting on my shelf to be installed. I've never heard them personally, but I hear good things about them.

Well now I'll admit, those are the speakers that keep leading me back to wanting to try Hi-Vi - the reviews over at Zaph... might just pull the trigger and try em out.

I've heard a set of older HiVi mids and they were very good. Snappy tight midbass, good extension but didn't do well in the midrange area. I would think they would have done VERY well in a 3 way set rather then the 2 way I heard.

This is good info ^^^ I noticed Madisound has a three way set, but whew on the price... but three way active is already the goal for the truck, soooo... maybe try out some of their raw drivers and see what can be accomplished

The actual brand for hivi is swan-speaker..

They have a 3-way coax as a single-point-source that interests me a lot... check it out : http://www.swanspeaker.com/products/...sid=51&pid=157

Interesting... I had looked at it before, but couldn't quite figure out how to incorporate that large of a driver in the A-pillar

Kick panel installation though, that could be pretty amazing.

Re: Any thoughts regarding Hi-Vi products?

I've looked into that driver before - the 2-way and 3-way versions - and I have to say there are much better value-for-the-money propositions out there. The little I've read on those combos indicate they are great ideas that just fail miserably in implementation. It's a shame as I think a well designed coaxial ring midrange and tweeter combination could be a very interesting setup in the car. Unfortunately there are too many compromises here with the result being an overall failure.

An interesting alternative might be the horn-based coaxial drivers that Beyma and Faital have available. A small horn down the throat of a high efficiency midrange. I think one of those would be interesting to test out to see if directivity can be effectively manhandled.

The few HiVi speakers I have tried to date have been easily bested by lower priced Vifa drivers. Not to say HiVi doesn't get it right now and then, but by and large the Vifas seem to hit the mark much more consistently. The same seems to be the case with the Dayton lines. Both exceptional values overall.
