Re: BigAl205's 2015 Ford Explorer XLT

I took some time to do some more exploration

I've been dreading having to deal with the factory Molex connector. Here's what it looks like OEM

After pulling back the boot and feeling around with my fat sausage fingers, the inside part if the Molex snapped loose and pushed inside leaving only this plastic grommet. Looks like I may have just lucked out because it will allow the wires thru and protect against chafing

I need to pull the kick panel to feel around the backside and see if I need to wrap the inner guts with Tesa tape to keep it from buzzing, but hopefully this will go easier than expected

Another quick mod I did was to reinstall my Nite-Ize Steely phone mount https://www.niteize.com/product/Stee...-Mount-Kit.asp

Also note, you can see the factory center above the air vents. IIRC, it has a factory 2-1/2" driver.

Any space for a small sealed enclosure behind there? I'm thinking the Scan 10f as it's very shallow.

I might eventually go that route, but as of right now I already have the HiVi B3N's that I've been using and have been happy with. Here's the FR graph

I also have some BNIB Foundtek FE85's

    And some Tang Band W3-1364SA

Compare them to the FR of the Scanspeak

NOTE: These are not my graphs, it's just stuff I found on the interwebz

Ok that's just too cool for school! That's the slickest little mount I've seen yet. Will those hold a sure-enough iPad Air? If so, bam!

I would think so. Just make sure it's perfectly centered, or gravity will make it pivot to an odd angle.
