More updates... I figured I'd strut my stuff vs doing actuated lifts for the sides... So I bought struts that would support 150lbs. Yeah, not so much.

So I did these basic brackets instead.

Lots more to follow... This thing is far from done.

How much weight do you think that might carry? The moment arm on the shelf is long compared to the vertical support point. It looks great, but I would hate to see those brackets get overloaded before you expect them to.

The set is rated for 130 lbs. All I plan to use this side for is basic assembly/clamping and as a sewing table... my sewing machine will sit on top and allow the material to flow through the machine and then onto the top of the work bench... My machine is only about 10lbs. These should be more than sufficient.

The other side is the peg board that I made which also serves as a down draft sanding table/station. I hadn't mentioned that yet, but it's pretty slick. More pics coming soon.

The other thing I didn't mention is that the tolerance above the folding table is very tight. This allows for additional support when the table is extended. If you put full pressure on the outermost edge and the brackets flex, it forces the back edge into the bottom of the overhang for the top which minimizes play and allows for more load bearing than the brackets are rated for.

    Hope that makes sense-

Thanks for taking the time to explain the support design. You obviously have considered all aspects that would impact that feature.

It will be interesting to hear how this sweet unit is making life easier at your shop.

Right now it's making things harder lol! I need to re-arrange things to give me more usable space (which was planned for too, just not accomplished yet). So far its just so dang big that its limiting functionality.
