The garage is definitely huge. And the ceiling height in the garage looked to be around 10+ feet. Plenty of space and storage. The shop itself appears to have been a woodshop for a previous owner. If I had to guess, I'd say the dimensions are somewhere in the neighborhood of 16' x 25'. It has large double doors for the entrance so someone was building some bigger stuff in there. It has electric (and supposedly heat) too which is a huge plus.
I don't even know what we'd do with the space above the garage. I doubt very seriously we'd ever have it in use as an "in-law" suite. Rental *might* be an option but we'd have to jump through some hoops with the township and it may not be doable without a ton of work. It's built out right now as 2 separate spaces. You walk up to a small landing with a doorway to your left and your right. Each side is home to a living room and kitchenette plus one bedroom and bath. I guess that would be the GTG hotel space for you far away travelers

    Re: Potential New House

Well...this one above didn't pan out for us, but we did just get our offer accepted on another place. We close at the end of May, so that's exciting. It's a foreclosure in a very nice neighborhood with room to build some equity based on our price. The house has lots of needs so we'll have plenty of work to do, but looks like a great place for us.

About 2500sqft, half an acre lot with a nice sized fenced-in back yard. 2 car attached garage, but I've already been given the green light from Michelle on the utility workshop shed I want to put in the back yard. I'm looking at something in the neighborhood of 12' x 20' to do my woodworking, fiberglassing, etc in and to house tool benches, router table, table saw, drill press, etc.

The house was a bank owned foreclosure and will need lots of work- new roof, new windows, new flooring, some drywall and insulation here and there and fresh paint. Couple more cleanup items as well. Should be a fun ride
