    Vintage Vise Restore

Love me some vintage US made tools. Scored a cool little Wizard vice in great condition off the bay. Decided to break her down for a cleaning and quick coat of paint. Shots from the seller.

    Stay tuned...

Broken down and ready for a deep clean. I hit the top jaw with some 120 grit and found a few high spots and gouges on the edge that will need some file work.

    Opposite jaw before and sanding.

    A few more random shots.

After a good scrubbing and wire wheel to remove the grime. Applied a coat of paint stripper to get down to good metal. This little rookie is in great shape and won't take much to really shine.

Some shots from the paint booth Using a random can of red enamel I had on the shelf. It will get a quick bake in the oven to cure for a smooth, durable, chip-free finish.

Finished product is gonna look sweet, but when I look at old tools, for me the patina is part of the allure....lol.

    Re: Vintage Vise Restore

Final updates on the Wizard makeover. The original plan was to clean and restore this baby for my own shop. While helping a friend move to my side of town this weekend, we built a small workbench and arranged his garage for a project he will be working on. I decided this vise would make a perfect housewarming gift sooooo, as of now I am still vise-less lol.

Here she is in her new home.

Patina already starting to form on freshly sanded handle, gotta love humid climates.

Hard to see in the pics but these jaws have nice deep, clean grooves.

Couldn't find any black, so silver accents would have to do.

Just scored another vise on ebay as I was updating this thread, pics to follow.
