Needed: Your thoughts on a sedan enclosure.....
Hello fellow junkies...
I'm in the process of rebuilding my little car system and would like to get the Junkie communities detailed thoughts.
Currently the front stage is in stone... already in the works and just about complete.... so we're good there...
I'm debating on subwoofer implementation. Should I continue forward with two 10" subwoofers in the sealed enclosure I currently have... or do something different... I do want to gain the use of my cars trunk back... since I do drive it EVERYDAY.... The Sonus build was awesome but I barely had room to put a briefcase in there....
So, I'm debating either a Free-air install or possibly a spare tire well enclosure.... Would like to have your input and suggestions on this subject.
My goals are:
- Get my car usable again.
- Retain an OEM look, until I want to show it off.
- SQ is of top concern.
THANKS for your input guys !!!
Re: Needed: Your thoughts on a sedan enclosure.....
If you're willing to ditch the spare... I vote the pair of 10" ported, or a single 15" sealed.
Re: Needed: Your thoughts on a sedan enclosure.....
I'm willing to ditch the spare... No worries there...
My main concern is the best combination of SQ and reclaimed space.... I've been told that rear firing subs sound better than say a tire well arrangement...
My thought's, sub bass is non-directional... so that's really not an issue... I'm assuming the spare tire option might be more apt to cause vibration ???
Re: Needed: Your thoughts on a sedan enclosure.....
Just throwing this out there... kind of pricey at $350 a piece, but looks like it leaves plenty of space leftover;

Re: Needed: Your thoughts on a sedan enclosure.....
Why did you change to IB ?
Please explain....
Re: Needed: Your thoughts on a sedan enclosure.....
I've saw those enclosure in person... they are actually very nice quality...
Re: Needed: Your thoughts on a sedan enclosure.....
For you guys that picked IB.... please let's discuss your thought's on that choice...
Tell me why...
Re: Needed: Your thoughts on a sedan enclosure.....
Never been a fan of rear corner subs, seems like their output is typically lacking compared to forward, or rear firing. IB is always praised for having the best, "SQ" while usually retaining the most amount of trunk space. But, I've also heard that their output is often lacking just a bit, compared to smaller sealed, or ported enclosures.
A spare tire well enclosure would most likely require quite a bit of fabrication time and cost, whereas an IB setup could be easily knocked out in an afternoon and achieve similar results, and require less wattage too.
Re: Needed: Your thoughts on a sedan enclosure.....
If you are considering IB, have you measured the back seat opening to see what size speakers will work?
