Re: Looking for a 10" sub, would like recommendations and opinions
Blackhawk Fan,
Made in Taiwan (a republic of china)
Good , Dayton has been used by me [ Titanic MK III ]. Very clean , clear sound !
The High-Fidelity model has a little over 1/2 inch linear excursion with an equivalent compliance ( fs - 2.97 cubic feet ). Cone material is anodized aluminum , bass box pro 6 , reccomends an enclosure of 1.7 cu. ft with a rolloff frequency ( f3 = 40 hZ ) will handle more than 400 watts in this box and has a 3.1 ohm or nominal 4 ohm rating ! ( Will easily handle the peak wattage for transients = 800 watts )
Very good !
Use a class d amp rated for 1,000 watts @ 4 ohms for " sweetest sound "
In the smaller than 3 cube box , extreme lows or Low lows get sacrificed [ No Tub Thump or Hair Tricks ]

Think. (( excursion should be more , rather than less , to avoid mechanical over- excursion or " bottoming out "!
IDMAX 10CRD2-v.3 @ woofers etc is a Great IB sub , $ 399.99
Re: Looking for a 10" sub, would like recommendations and opinions
Do you or have you found pix of IB set-ups ? ( build logs )
infinite baffle are known for getting ( low lows , think 10 hZ track from superman ) whilst leaving trunk space .
Rear area of car must be sealed off completely from trunk [ rear deck and opening behind fold down seats ].
Then mount the biggest sub or a pair of smaller subs that can be used in an IB setup

I wasn't planning on an infinite baffle set-up mainly because I know next to nothing about them. I was planning on having a custom built box for either the Dayton HF 12 or the IDQ12. I think the Dayton's requirements are much smaller than the Image Dynamics, so that is one reason why I am leaning that way. I've read great reviews on both subs and I expect either to be an excellent performer. The Dayton is considerably less expensive and that is another reason I am leaning that way. I am still looking for something to tell me that the IDQ12 is considerably better than the HF 12. I am in no rush to get this done, but it will be relatively soon. Boy, I'd really like a Frog GB12D2 or the Morel Ultimo 104 (I found one of these online from an authorized Morel distributor for just a little over $500), but that kind of money just isn't going to happen for me at this time.

[url]www.woofersetc.comidmax10crd2 image dynamics chrome series
Cost More and can be used in More ways - 3 ways
Can be used in 1 cu ft sealed box , or free air ( infinite baffle ) or ported box .
IDMAX
Wired in series @ 4 ohm or parallel @ 1 ohm
Re: Looking for a 10" sub, would like recommendations and opinions
Audiofrog G12D4 can be used in a 0.75 ft^3 box and @ $199.99 !
You would have a box right around 12 x 12 x12 inches ! Sweet
Dual 4 ohm voice coils allow 8 ohm series connection or 2 ohm parallel [ The vast majority of subs I own are dvc 4 ohm ]
There is a BNIB JLAudio 13W3V.3-2ohm sub in classifieds [chefhow]. $ 200.00
There is no replacement , for displacement . JL W3's have made the grade ! Tactile sensations , you can feel it in your chest .

Re: Looking for a 10" sub, would like recommendations and opinions
Two of the 12D4 could be wired to a 2 ohm load to amp ! Infinite baffle they would be "incredible" from about 60 hZ down to ' Superman ' track or 10 hZ !
Your trunk would be empty , except for amps , and whatever else you wanted to put in it.
