double DIN recommendation?
Hi All, Ive been out of the HU game for a very long time. Hoping some of you up to speed on the latest gear might be able to assist. Here are my must haves. Anything else is a bonus. Budget: $500 (need best bang for buck. Cheaper is obviously better if all else is equal)Features: touch screen, 4v preout, dual camera support (front/rear camera), reliable, android support, hands free Bluetooth. I would really prefer a rotary volume knob, but it isnt a deal breaker. I could care less if it plays DVDs. I also dont need any steering wheel control support. This will be going in my 2007 exploder XLT. I will be using my MS8 processor with this so I dont need any fancy built in tuning features. Thanks everyone!
Re: double DIN recommendation?
Looks like the Pioneer AVH-X5800BHS fits the bill
Re: double DIN recommendation?
Thanks Al. Looks like a nice unit. Anyone know of any that dont have a motorized face that fits all the other requirements? Im not finding much. Maybe I just need to do away with the dual camera requirement.
Re: double DIN recommendation?
Kenwood Excelon DDX594
Installed a DDX773BH in our Jeep a few months back and it has been flawless, couldn't be happier.
Re: double DIN recommendation?
to me it seems the kenwoods sound cleaner than the pioneer. the 9903s is a bit slow on some things but very tolerable as most move very fluid
Re: double DIN recommendation?
If you don't need an HD radio tuner you could save a bit by getting the Kenwood DDX394. My wife has a DDX393 and it's worked well.
Re: double DIN recommendation?
let me say that my recommendations would come back to the media that you listen to your music with. my kenwood 5901hd is horrid at dropping my 160gb ipod and wont see more than 5000 files on a usb drive. my pioneer 4700 is better with the ipod and will see 15000 files on a usb drive which for mp3 is good for about 64gb. my kenwood 9903s is better with all files and sounds about the same as the 5901. the 9903 is over your price range though.
I would look at file number capability if that could possibly make any difference for you.
I would choose the kenwood 9903 over the pioneer again though. but the pioneer over the 5901 over the file number limitations of the 5901 as that is important to me as I listen to lots of music when traveling
Re: double DIN recommendation?
my main source of music will be CDs. Occasionally I listen to FLAC files off my phone, but not often. Thanks for all the recommendations. I will research them all this weekend.
Re: double DIN recommendation?
Thanks everyone for your suggestions. After a bit of additional research, I ended going with Dannys choice of the Kenwood Excelon DDX594. I opted over the slightly smaller screen for the rotary volume knob and a non motorized screen. It was a tough choice over the Pioneer units though.
Re: double DIN recommendation?
I think you'll like it
