Dayton Audio UMM-6 Microphone Roll Off
Is it just me, or does the UMM-6 roll off early on the top end. It seems at around 11k or so it just falls on its face. Is this a problem with my mic in specific or the microphone as a whole? I know I have seen some videos from Skizer where I think he is using the same mic and it rolls off hard as well. Any better mic options out there?
Re: Dayton Audio UMM-6 Microphone Roll Off
How are you determining the roll off? I had a Beringer mic years ago and felt the same about it. At least until I stuck it to a tweeter. Turned out to be the cancellation and off axis response I was measuring.
I'm not saying it's your problem, just asking how you are arriving at the conclusion. I have the same mic and don't have that problem.

Mine seems to roll off hard at 16k. Not really a problem though.
Re: Dayton Audio UMM-6 Microphone Roll Off
Out of all of the mics ive had, they all seem to roll off at 16k. But sometimes it doesnt seem to be the mic.. test by putting the mic as close as possible to the tweeter and see what happens. If it measures up to 20k, you just have cancellation, but i doubt that at frequencies this high

You should have a calibration file that compensates for that roll off to keep it 'flat'. You should have files for 0 degrees, 45 degrees and 90 degrees.
At least the umik-1 comes with those files.
