Psyko's 2007 Mustang
Let me start by saying this is my first audio build it took quite a bit of deliberation but, after listening to quite a few SQ systems at the Oklahoma City and College Station meets. I felt like it was time to do something about the stock stereo in the Mustang.
The stock system is comprised of a Shaker 500 head unit with two 5x7's and two 8" door subs up front and in the rear two 6x8's. For a stock system it wasn't bad but, there wasn't much clarity in music and the stock CD changer was long since gone...

Re: Psyko's 2007 Mustang
RE recommends 1 cube for a sealed sub enclosure. Jon managed to find a custom box from HiFi Sound Connection that's built for the car. The build quality for the box is awesome especially for the price and with free shipping it was a steal.

Taking the car apart didn't take much time I had just a few hold ups like finding a T30 torx to remove the door panels :banghead:. I had previously taken the head unit out to remove the CD changer when it failed so that wasn't a big deal at all.
Attachment 6114
The speaker bracket seemed odd it wasn't flush with the door so it had to be reused.

The back seat was a joke to get out two push clips and it's out of there.

Re: Psyko's 2007 Mustang
Next, I needed to find a place for the amp I wanted something out of the way so Jon and I mounted it under the rear deck we cut a piece of lumber to fit and used the mounting holes for the rear speakers since those were removed.

Amp in place! This thing is a beast for its size. 14.4” L x 7.1” W x 2.0” H
Attachment 6123
4 Gauge power, turn on, and, accessory 12v wire on its way to the front
Attachment 6124
All the power wires run on the far passenger side not sure if its necessary to keep it away from speaker wire and RCA cables but it seemed like a good idea at the time.
Attachment 6125
Threw the main wiring grommet and into the wheel well as long as the inner fender liner stays in place this is a very safe place on these cars.
The Stinger wiring kit was even tech flexed on the end going to the battery.

Re: Psyko's 2007 Mustang
Out of the whole project running speaker wire into the doors was by far the worst part. I wanted to run the wire threw the rubber boot but, couldn't figure out why I was having trouble fishing wire through I decided to pull the boot off and found this... :banghead: The dreaded molex connection and to make matters worse the hole cut in the exterior and interior do not match up at all.

I found that I could run speaker wire threw a hole in the clip. Getting the boot back on was a mess I had to remove the molex connection from the door to allow some more room to work with it.

The driver side went together much faster.

Next up sound deadening. I picked up a bulk pack of Stinger Roadkill from Sonic Electronics I would highly recommend the roller it made laying down the material much easier.

Re: Psyko's 2007 Mustang
With the amp and everything wired up I realized the H100 ended up in the trunk and there was no need for 17' RCA cables  but, they will work for now until I can find some shorter ones.

Sub gain mounted in the center console the other cables are a usb and a aux. I plan to get a face plate for those at some point to hide the wire.

Sub in place and the trunks put together. Those RCA cables...

Looking good. I can completely relate to having RCAs that are entirely too long. I did the exact same thing...LOL
