Amp mystery (HELP)

Hi guys

I have a 06 citi 1.4i with a system consisting of a:
Pioneer GM-D9605 5 channel 2000w, Rockford R16-S 160 Watt splits,
Rockford R169X3 Prime 6 x 9 3-Way, Rockford P2D4-8 Punch 8" P2 4-Ohm DVC sub,
Pioneer AVH-200EX double din.

Now the mystery is after a month or so the power/protect light would turn red and the subwoofer stops playing while the speakers continued to play. We then checked everything we could think of including grounding, rca's, all the wiring, altenator and the battery. Now the sound to the sub is completely gone. Sub was tested and also fine.

Any help or advice will be appreciated[emoji482]

Buying a new amp not a option[emoji23] The strange thing is that the install was not even a month old with brand new components so it wasn't played hard at all so that everything could get played in. But thanks for the comment[emoji1690][emoji1690]

Are all the fuses ok on the amp itself? I've had a few of those Pioneer GM amps, and the only time one gave a similar issue, was me having it wired incorrectly and beating on the thing a bit much. Think I had it wired down to 0.75 ohms, and popped the fuse. Swapped subs, replaced the fuse, and continued to rock the amp for over a year more. Those GM amps are generally pretty solid. Is there any chance of wires shorting out somewhere? Either at the speaker terminals on the amplifier, or the enclosure connections?

All the wires and connection were checked twice while trying to solve this, and the fuses are also good. Im gonna replace all the fuses incase one is a bit dodgy. I initially thought it was the connections or a short on the terminals but all the connections are heat shrinked so that is also off the table.

Are subs wired in parallel? Wire in series the ohms should be around 3. Something in parallel and around 7.something in series on a dual voice coil four ohm per coil sub. Use a multimeter set on horseshoe looking symbol

How you gonna get a 1 ohm load from a 4 ohm dvc sub, Hic?

I don't know what that sub is rated for, but I bet it isn't 1200 watts.

All the speakers are wired to this amp and, when it goes into protect, only the sub channel quits? Does the protect light stay on when the sub is unhooked? Have you tried a different sub/sub wiring? Is the amp under warranty?

With a 1 ohm stable amp your possibilities open up! Maybe a 2 ohm dvc sub? A 2 ohm final ain`t nothing to a one ohm "stable" amp.

Yes the light stays on even after the sub is not hooked up

He/she might be wantin some "Hit/Tub Thump" for Rap/HipHop/dub step.

Found a few threads GM-D9605. Only one person "claimed" , by redoing connections the amp came out of "protect" .
Worth a try and if that doesn`t do it, HillbillySQ might be able to use it when he is fishing.
