Re: Noico 80 mil deadener initial measurements
Interesting. What are your initial thoughts regarding the ability to effectively dampen? Any tar smell?
-
Re: Noico 80 mil deadener initial measurements
To me, there is a tiiiiiny bit of smell, but I don't think you will notice in a car. I have some sitting right behind me on the floor. Haven't installed any yet.

Re: Noico 80 mil deadener initial measurements
Ok, was curious. Some conspiracy theorists were hinting this might by a different formula from what is used on the StP Atlantic dampener.

I agree, it does have a tiny bit of smell. It smells just like the 3M butyl rope I get from Auto Zone.

Re: Noico 80 mil deadener initial measurements
I used over 200 ft2 in my little Acura install... There is a bit of a smell but nothing really too different from other deadeners.
I do feel it does a wonderful job of deadening my car... no rattles and the doors are SOLID....!

Re: Noico 80 mil deadener initial measurements
Am I the only weird one who liked the smell of the old Stinger Roadkill asphalt deadener?
It made my Blazer smell like I had accomplished something.

Re: Noico 80 mil deadener initial measurements
It's not done I think, if it don't have that stink. Ba da, ba da.

Re: Noico 80 mil deadener initial measurements
Been looking at this stuff too. Very affordable but don't want to have to redo later if it's not a good product.

Re: Noico 80 mil deadener initial measurements
I wanted to give this deadener some time before I said more about it. So far it's sticking well and IMO is a great budget alternative. I notice zero smell and the foil is thicker than a few "name brand" deadeners out there like Hush Mat, etc.

Re: Noico 80 mil deadener initial measurements
I just bought a box of it...the stuff is heavy as heck

Re: Noico 80 mil deadener initial measurements

Would you say it is just as good as say dynamat extreme? I see in your measurements it works out to .75lb a sq ft not too bad.
I am considering this or Wirez but can't seem to find much on either product.

Re: Noico 80 mil deadener initial measurements
I just realized that Glenn was talking about the 80mil stuff, but I bought the 50mil http://www.amazon.com/Noico-Self-adh...keywords=noico
The 50mil Noico beside Dynamat Xtreme

I tried to measure the two with my calipers, but it's almost impossible to find a consistent thickness without actually mounting it on something.
Noico...

Dynamat Xtreme

They feel to be the same thickness and the aluminum layer looks to be the same, but the Noico seems to be more flexible simply because of the quilting pattern in the aluminum

Re: Noico 80 mil deadener initial measurements
I used some of this a couple weeks ago on the front doors of our Avalanche. Adhesion was great even in the cool and humid weather we were having at the time. I didn't have a way to measure, but the foil seemed a little thin. Probably can't beat it for the price I paid, though.

So, is everyone's consensus is that this is a worthwhile product?

i asked glenn about it the other night, he said he still thinks it's good stuff and ordered some more. i have some being delivered later today that i'll be putting on the car, i'll post up my impressions of it. i ordered the black, for what it's worth.

Re: Noico 80 mil deadener initial measurements
Quick and ugly math while doing three things at once ya know.
Looks like SDS is $2.85/sqft at middle qty pricing.
Vs $1.77/sqft for for Noico.
Looks from glancing at specs too it's quite comparable.

Re: Noico 80 mil deadener initial measurements
Just did a layer of this on the outer door skin on my front doors and I gotta give it a thumbs up. It works and works well.
-
Re: Noico 80 mil deadener initial measurements
Based on this thread, I also used Noico 80mil on my truck. I think it is thumbs up worthy as well. Easy to work with, stuck like glue, quieted my cab, and no smell! Thanks for this review, Glenn!

Re: Noico 80 mil deadener initial measurements
I will say though.. From the purchases and advice I've gotten from Don, I like doing biz with SDS. He's got the support going for him with all his products, and he's a solid great guy. Call him on phone though. Old school but a good way to assess your needs and get the right amount of product, be it CLD, CCF/MLV etc.
