Bob's Model Train Layout Build
Not vehicle or audio related at all, but there is a bit of electrical work, skill, and level of creativity and craftsmanship that goes in to this kind of hobby. Thought people might like to see some pictures along the way.
Since my garage is hovering around 10 degrees and I cant get any of my major projects done out there, I decided to work on my model train layout. here are the details...
- N scale (1:160 scale)
- Denver Rio Grande centric
- small 24" x 84" layout.
- basic squeezed oval
- Entire back half is in a tunnel
- top of the tunnel will serve as a display for my California Zephyr passenger set
- Lots of home brewed goodness
First project was to tackle the tunnel portals...
bag of wooden sticks from walmart

I used a walnut stain on the sticks and immediately wiped it off for an uneven weathered look. Did a bunch of cutting to fit and gluing and came up with this...

Its not done yet but this is as far as I got. More pictures to come as the progress continues.

every tunnel portal entrance needs an exit. Here is the other end. Not done yet, but the majority of it is there.

worked on a drawer today that will house all the buttons to activate the switch machines. Its similar to a drawer with a cuttingboard built in to it. Slide the drawer out and slide back the cover to reveal all the buttons. Will be kinda slick when its all done
