Door / Panel Sound Treatment
MINI Cooper door as shown below. The panel is a single piece that fits over the entire door.

The door panel elements are shown below. The item labeled "1" is felt insulation, maybe 1/4" thick. The rest of the panel is untreated.

So my question has to do with inexpensive ways to block noise. I'm trying to avoid going to MLV. My current list includes jute and closed cell foam. So the first question is which material would perform better for sound attenuation? Are there other options in the same cost category?
The second question is would it be better to add the material to the panel or to the door? My current inclination is the latter, but I that is based on my gut saying it is the easier option and that the material would be better protected from the elements.
Lastly, adhesive recommendations are greatly appreciated.

We start with noise blocking at the outer skin of the door... First cld, over that ccf, over that ocf.. Then the "baffle" with cld, then the door inner panel with cld and over that ocf in different thicknesses' depending on the location on the panel...
The ccf we use is noise isolator from silent coat... It's a sandwich material

I've decided to go the mlv route. It will be on a combination of locations on the door and door panel.

So just MLV and no CCF to dampen vibrations between CLD and MLV?

I'm curious to see your implementation method also. About to do the Forester, and always looking for ideas on how it should be done :)

The doors are going to be a unique case. For one, the door panels are really deep in the center, and they seal the large oval area in the center of the door. So I can't see how I can use a single piece for the door. It will be easy to add mlv to the door panel oval area. I will have to see how much of the door itself I want to treat with mlv. I was only planning to use ccf behind the speaker, to knock down backwaves.

For the floor, I will be doing cld + mylar backed insulation (http://www.homedepot.com/p/UltraTouc...406/100656748#, a Glenn recommendation so it should rock. If nothing else the price is right.) + mlv. I do not know yet how I will attach the mlv.
