Dayton DATS v3 | An Absolute Must Have
This one has been in the works for a while. The DATS v3 is a product that I strongly, truly believe everyone should have in their toolbox. There are even many questions and discussions here on ASR that would be immensely helped by a simple impedance sweep.
In this video I discuss the often used purpose of measuring a drive unit's T/S parameters as well as provide some other examples of how you can easily find internal enclosure resonance as well as a few other highlights.
I also encourage you to stay through until the end.
If you would like to purchase one while helping me fund my channel and tools I use for measuring loudspeakers (such as the Klippel NFS) please consider doing so by using one of the affiliate links below:

Re: Dayton DATS v3 | An Absolute Must Have
I have the older WT3...
Is there actually a difference between that and this newer one?
The name change made me wonder.

I'm sure there is but I couldn't tell you without looking in to what they are.
Re: Dayton DATS v3 | An Absolute Must Have
The v3 is easier to use as it is an all in one box. I believe Justin Zazzi has the v2 (maybe v1) and it just isn't as finished of a product. I have the v3. Both work great. (EDIT* SHould have watched the video first...I see Erin covered this in great detail)
I purchased mine after using his and diagnosing some speaker issues within a couple of minutes that I spent months on. I even bought mine as refurbished for ~$50. Even at full price, it is worth it and I would have purchased it that way.
Re: Dayton DATS v3 | An Absolute Must Have
I appreciate your video, well done, I had forgot there was an O-scope feature but more to the point since I hadn't really looked into it enough and didn't realize until your video the DATS can be used to exercise or break the speakers in some. Having the ability to play pink noise is nice among the many things I am not taking advantage of. I picked my unit last summer and have been using it as sort of quality check of the new drivers I will be installing and also wanted a way to get info of some older ones laying around or to have a way to test used speakers. I was also reminded I can check the tuning frequency of the sub I put together for my garage's 2.1 system.
Do you use any of the DATS other test features like the Rub N Buzz test?
