15' to 20' USB A to USB-Mini B recommendations
I'm looking for a quality cable to connect an iPhone CCK to a Helix DSP Ultra. My installer mentioned 17 feet was the recommended length and the Helix has a USB-Mini type B. I assume that means I need a USB-A male to USB-Mini B male. I might be able to make 15' work but may be safer with 20' unless there are 17' or custom options.
My installer recommended Audioquest Carbon and mentioned they run about $400.00. My search found Moon Audio at about the same price.
I’m not convinced I need to pay that much. What are some other options? I typically buy from Blue Jeans Cable for most of my audio cables to give you an idea of my comfort level. I don’t mind paying over Mono-price prices but I am not in the high dollar esoteric camp while also not wanting to worry about replacing a bad cable in a car after installation.
Thank you.

I've built more cables than I can remember but mostly using a Canare crimper, die, RCA, BNC and coax connectors with either Canare or Beldon cable. Never attempted a USB cable.
Main constraint with the install starting Monday next week is time.
Thank you.

15 to 20 ft is very long, on the borderline. The signals (voltage) may drop and cause data transmission/intregity issues. In the old days of long USB cables, they have a powered module inline to amplify or drive it to the appropriate voltage.

Yes, I am worried about that as it has come up while searching for options. I learned that is why BigAl205's recommended source maxes out at 10'. Starting to wonder if it is worth the trouble, especially if the soon to be released high res WiFi card is comparable or better.
Thanks

Sometimes it may work if the internal conductors/wires are thicker. They can bump up the copper thickness by 1 or 2 sizes and the overall jacket size/diameter will be larger. Use the Amazon app and search "usb a mini usb cable long" and these might be ok (manufacturers know they should use the thicker cables here).

Some of them may say "charging cable". This we'll have to be cautious... it may only charge but not transmit data (missing the data lines, but only have the power/ground only). (Just have to double check it's a data cable or thick data cable.)

I might be just as well off with Monoprice. Can't imagine a $400 cable sounding any better.
I wonder if this will work? Marketed as a camera tether cable.
